Stephanie Moore MBE wowed by the progress made at Bobby Moore Academy
Stephanie Moore MBE visited the two sites that will make up Bobby Moore Academy in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last week to see the progress that is being made.
The school, named after Stephanie’s late husband and footballing legend Bobby Moore, will be opening in September for 120 lucky Year 7 pupils. The school will eventually educate children and young people from the age of 4 through to 18.
Building work has been progressing well, and Stephanie visited the site to see the buildings and get a feel for what life at the academy will be like.
Stephanie Moore MBE said: “The next most important thing you should give a child after love is a good education.”
“This is clearly going to be a very inspirational school. I am amazed how the school is coming along. I expected it to be a frame, but I really got a feel for what life as a student will be like. It’s going to be a fabulous building and there is so much enthusiasm and good will invested in the academy by so many.
“It is very exciting indeed.”
Stuart Burns, Principal at Bobby Moore Academy, said: “It is really exciting to see our vision becoming a reality and to share the progress we have made with Stephanie.
“The building work will soon be completed, we now have a funding agreement in place and we are well underway with preparing the curriculum for our students.
“This is the culmination of years of hard work and the dedication of a number of partners including the Department for Education, the David Ross Education Trust and London Legacy Development Corporation and our contractor Balfour Beatty.
“I cannot wait to welcome our first set of students in September and would like to thank the local community for their ongoing support in the development of our academy.”
